Sexoffenderstatistics.net was created to give educators, policy makers, law enforcement officials, and the general public access to a study on 230 Northeast Florida Sex Offenders.
This study took over 200 hours and brought out some alarming information on drug and alcohol abuse in sex offenders, especially the offenders who prey on the youngest victims.
There is no in-patient facility in our area that will treat drug and alcohol addicted sex offenders. We believe there is a nationwide disconnect between the providers that are treating drug and alcohol users and those treating sex offenders.
Many offenses could be prevented with treatment and education of current and possible offenders. Educating parents and other custodians of children to the data that the majority of offenders (over 90%) are friends of the family or actual family members will also help.
We are encouraging further dialog by providing the Sex Offender Statistics Blog. You are welcome to post comments or links to other factual and pertinent studies on this Blog.
Information about who we are and on the study itself is published as a PDF. If you have any questions please e-mail Chris Bartkowiak via the link on the right. We are open to your ideas as to the best uses & development of this site. Our concern is protecting our children and any other victims. |
